Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We reviewed some food and clothing vocab through various communicative activities, dialogues, and readings. We reviewed tener expressions, possessive adjectives, and both past tenses. The student had a good grasp of the grammar, so we're practicing putting everything together in conversation."
"We went over homework first. Then, we reviewed numbers because the student seemed to have a hard time remembering those. We read through a passage to work on reading comprehension, pronunciation, and familiarize him with new vocabulary. Then, we reviewed questions that were similar to the ones asked in class, and to finish up, we reviewed more numbers to make sure that he remembered our previous review."
"We went over some translation and the use of helping verbs. The student was struggling with the use of helping verbs like: uno/a, con, and es. She was very happy that she was learning the translation of some sentences. I included some picture charts to help her see the conjugation of some verbs. She will be getting homework from her Spanish class. I noted that she is progressing on the past tense verbs. Today we were able to go over future and past tense verbs."
"We went over the formal commands (Usted, Ustedes) form. Student one & student two reviewed the concepts and applications of the formal commands in the different scenarios, with both regular and irregular verbs, stem-changing verbs and in affirmative and negative ways. They understood it very well and proceeded to successfully do several exercises in oral and written ways. They also had their reading and pronunciation practice by reading a press article from "La Opinion", the online version of the most important Hispanic newspaper of Los Angeles. They also practiced open conversation in Spanish. Both of them have improved their reading and pronunciation skills in a very remarkable way. I will give them some online free sessions for improvement of their accent in Spanish, whenever they are available to receive it."
"We went over vocabulary, verbs, adjectives related to travel, work, vacations, family, background in a totally conversational style. We also covered expressions, and wrote many complete sentences covered during the conversational lesson. Discussed some grammar, and sentence format/structure, writing examples. Student is at an advanced intermediate level, ready for unlimited conversation. Student is very motivated to learn Spanish, and eager. No concerns from this lesson."
"We worked exclusively on the subjunctive. The student understands the concept and the basic formation of the mood, but needs to watch out for details: stem changing verbs, irregular verbs, subject/verb agreement, etc. She has more exercises to work through before our lesson tomorrow."
