Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today the student and I focused on word roots, recognizing them within words and then trying to extract their meanings for future use. We also discussed the rules of algebra. We also discussed permutations and combinations, looked at more sample essays, and did a practice writing section. It is clear that the student is improving!"
"The student and I started with some review of numbers and division, then moved on to ratios and proportions. I assigned her a section of her math review book on triangles as homework. We finished the session with some review of Improving Sentences questions. She has a good ear for the grammar questions. Between now and our next session, she will take a practice test, and we'll review some of that before her test next Wednesday."
"The student worked with fleshing out some essay ideas to discuss. I suggested he focus on concrete examples first as a way of drawing out ideas that might inspire a thesis statement. We applied this approach to two other prompts and began to build steam as he got more used to illustrating examples from his studies or from life experiences."
