"We finished algebra by working on functions, symbol problems, Probability, Combinations/Permutations and then did some practice problems. We also went over factoring and simplifying polynomial equations. We then began with geometry, going over how to approach problems in general, common pitfalls, and problem solving strategies. We went over how to understand more information based off of what is given from the use of laws/theorems. We then went over rules of lines, angles, triangles, squares, circles and polynomials in general. This was a good lesson, moving forward I would like the student to work on his approach to navigating through unfamiliar problems."
"The student did very well in his math section from last week, and he doesn't need to worry about the essay any more. This session, we corrected his writing and reading section that was last week's homework, and worked through some reading problems together. Homework for this week: 2 reading and 2 writing sections from a past test."
"We started working on a Math section. We discussed avoiding rushing through the earlier, simpler questions just because they should take less time-- we still want to be careful and be sure to get them right, especially since they are the points we are most likely to get. We looked at how to break down the more difficult problems and find and focus on the smaller, simpler steps we knew we could do. We also discussed the student's experience with the practice test that she took this past weekend."
