Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We finished reviewing the writing section. We finished identifying sentence errors, started and finished improving sentence errors, and started and finished improving paragraphs. We worked on eliminating repetitive language, inserting useful descriptions, using parallelism, and finally approaches to different types of problems and things to look out for when doing said problems. The student seemed to already know and understand material from the sections, but seemed to gain most from doing practice problems and going through them - learning through trial and error/demonstration. For next time, we will go over language rules. I left him with some homework that will focus on each section."
"We focused on the Science section. We looked at how you don't have to read everything in each passage before you go to the questions, because there just isn't time to. I think the student has good instincts for this section."
"The student and I started our session by doing practice problems in paragraph correction, grammar, and vocabulary. She performed very well on these questions. We turned to reading comprehension next. I gave her the general strategy for reading comprehension and we did a sample passage. Next time we will cover strategies for dual passages and begin our review of mathematics."
