Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We met for the first time. We reviewed material for her test in Geometry on Thursday. We discussed conditionals, theorems, and congruent angles. She was a little unclear with the concepts of syllogism and detachment while working on theorems--we should revisit. She did well in our session and, hopefully, did well the next day on her test."
"We reviewed the student's test from last week, went over the homework assignment covering parallel lines, and began the lesson on slopes of lines."
"We went over the student's test. We discussed his homework for the week. We went over supplementary angles and complementary angles and formulas involving them."
"The student and I started by reviewing her homework on Pythagorean theorem word problems. She said these were "easy" and got all of them correct! I checked in about how school was going, and she told me that her math class is very easy. She seems to really enjoy being challenged in our sessions. We then worked more on parallel lines cut by a transversal. She is doing a great job with this, but definitely needs more practice, so I gave her a worksheet on this for homework. We also learned about the midpoint formula, which she did well with, but I noticed that she is still having difficulty reading and producing graphs. We will need to work on this more. I also gave her a worksheet on midpoints for homework."
"This session focused on identifying points, lines, and planes as well as their definitions. The student took well to the review of the material. He was comfortable with answering questions, and did well with explanations. There was no homework or test scores to review and gauge where he is at. We discussed study strategies, and advised that he complete at least 5 even and 5 odd problems each week from the current chapter to review for future sessions. It was also recommended that he review his material at least 15 minutes each day to keep the concepts fresh in his mind. His mother suggested we start with 5 problems and see how he is doing first. We will revisit the study strategy after a week to gauge where how it is working for him."
"In our first session, we discussed lines, line segments, rays, angles, and different types of triangles. The student asked me to discuss planes with him, and after I solidified these concepts with him, he understood his concepts really well."
