Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"In the session, today we covered different strategies on using various resources to complete reading comprehension and research questions. We went over the answers and he was asked to look back into text to fix his wrong responses. Using the same reading, the student will be asked to write a compare and contrast essay providing evidence to prove his claim. He is getting better in using his time wisely and focus on his reading/writing. HW was assigned on a persuasive writing prompt using some research."
"Today, the student and I worked on creating a detailed outline for the body paragraphs of his research paper. We got the whole outline created in the hour and a half that we met and he seemed capable and confident that he could turn the outline into actual paragraphs. Everything went very well and I'm looking forward to working with him further."
"The student and I started our session by going over a homework assignment I had given him for our last session. After that, we worked on a compare and contrast essay together in preparation for the upcoming assessment test. During our session, we read over several articles together. I had printed out some organizational charts beforehand. He and I thought of some points for the essay, organized our thoughts, and put them in the chart. After we finished organizing and going over the differences/similarities of the topic, I had him write the essay by himself. We went over it together, and he did an excellent job. Afterwards, I had him do a quick writing exercise. I had him read a short story and rewrite the story in someone else's point of view."
"The student and I reviewed his pretest outline for his upcoming test on The Tempest, and searched for the passages to make sure he knew exactly who was speaking and what was happening in the passages, as well as any symbolism being used. We also discussed study techniques."
"The student and I reviewed his Science Section 3 for his quiz. We discussed osmosis, diffusion, and active and passive transport."
"The student and I reviewed his study guide for his upcoming midterm exam. Areas covered included grammar terminology, parts of speech, and literary terms. He will review his indirect and direct objects, and linking verbs. I know he will ace his midterm exam!"
