Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We covered subtraction of multiple numbers and of three-digit numbers. We also started to learn borrowing."
"Student 1 and I worked on assignments and we caught up on all he had to do. Student 2 worked on lines and angles, and we practiced proofs on these. Both boys are doing very well with their math."
"We went over graphing linear equations and point slope formula and graphing inequalities and simplifying algebraic expressions."
"We covered and practiced solving second order equations by (a) taking square root, (b) factoring into product of two parts, (c) completing square, and (d) using quadratic formula. The student needs to remember that x^2 = "positive value" always has two solutions, one +, one -."
"For this session the student and I quickly covered almost a whole chapter - linear functions, the different forms of linear functions (slope-intercept, point-slope, and standard form), graphing the functions, and solving word problems involving linear functions. We only have 3 sessions left so I was hoping to skim the material more quickly so he can be exposed to the subjects he'll be covering this coming school year. We solved a few practice problems as usual, and covered the in-text SAT/ACT prep. I also used my laptop to show him an interactive graph on an algebra website that calculated the slope on any line you graphed on the screen. We definitely picked up the pace and he was a little hesitant, but I think this will help him in the long run in his upcoming algebra 2 class. As always, his attitude was positive and he picked things up fairly quickly. We plan on continuing to another chapter the next time we meet."
"The student and I went over graphing lines, sequences, and I taught him the concept of polynomials. He picked up on all the material quite well and both he and I feel positively about the work we have done over the summer. I wish him all the best and know he will be successful in high school."
