Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"In this session, we covered using the cumulative standard normal table to find a raw score given some area, and we found the area given a raw score. There were various homework problems. We have another session scheduled for Friday."
"The student and I were able to get in quite a bit of review material today. We tried to focus our attention on material that was older and less fresh in the student's mind."
"The student completed his first tutoring session aimed at improving his understanding of statistics. During the session, I assisted him with statistics homework pertaining to permutations and computations. First, we reviewed the formula for both operations. Next, I explained that permutations are utilized when order does matter; whereas, combinations are used when order does not matter. We also discussed the difference between dependent and independent events and reviewed the rules of probability. Finally, he was asked to apply his knowledge by solving relevant problems on his homework assignment. He was initially required to answer each item independently. If he provided an inaccurate response, I pointed out his errors and asked him questions aimed at guiding him toward the correct solution."
"Today's session with the student went well. We went over his homework, which was worksheets on adding and subtracting integers with decimals, equations, and equivalent fractions. Prior to my arrival, he had already started on his homework and wanted me to check his answers. We reviewed how factoring can help you determine if a fraction is an equivalent fraction. He will study his multiplication for homework."
"We continued working through radicals and exponents, which is a tricky topic. By the end, the student had a better grasp of the mechanics, but would occasionally jumble things a bit. I've assigned her a section to read and complete on her own to continue practicing her independent study skills. We'll see how it goes!"
"We covered basic algebra; distribution, combining like terms, simplifying, and solving for a variable; and taking an expression and factoring out the GCF."
