"Went over Section 7.2 (two-sample t tests and confidence intervals) and worked online. Focused on reasoning and using process of elimination for deducing correct answers to build those skills for her exams. Session went well."
"The student and I worked on some more challenging activities this time. We began with a poem -- we talked about what a poem is and then she read the poem herself. She then read and answered some multiple choice questions about the meaning of the poem and some rhymes within the poem. We finished the session working on fact families -- The student was given three numbers (for example, 7, 3, and 4) and she had to create two addition sentences and two subtraction sentences using those numbers."
"We had an introduction lesson to ACT/SAT essay writing. We talked about the necessary structure, looked at a good sample prompt and essay, and worked on writing/re-writing an introduction to the prompt, which the student is going to finish for homework before our next meeting."
"The student wrote a descriptive paragraph about his favorite food. He also completed an exercise focusing on verb and noun agreement. His homework is to complete several sentences using past, present and future tenses. We worked hard discussing how he must choose his words carefully, and edit again, after he thinks he's completed an assignment."
"Today, the student and I reviewed his notes from class in preparation of his test in two days. He has a descent amount of studying left to do but he's grasping the concepts quickly and I'm sure he'll do fine, just as he's done all semester. We also worked on a class review packet for the test which helped solidify certain terms and diagrams."
"We discussed the different uses of the imperfect/preterite tenses and worked through several practice test questions in the book. We also discussed testing tips and strategies for knowing when to use preterite or imperfect."
"The student and I had a PSAT boot camp session today. She is taking the test tomorrow, so we discussed the structure of the test, how to budget time, and some general strategies for approaching the questions. We also worked through a sample math section."

"The student and I went over the next two sections of the practice test that he had completed --reading comprehension and math. I shared some reading comprehension strategies with him, which I think improved his focus in that section a lot. I also started a list of mathematical concepts for him to review as we encountered each concept in the test. His homework was to make a list of all of the vocabulary words from the test that he didn't know, complete the math section, and complete the reading section from the next practice test."
"This is our second meeting in the first week with the student. We went over the student's homework from the last couple days and reviewed the slope-intercept form for lines, how to graph lines, and calculate slopes. Also, we started going over how to find the domain and range. We set our next session for this Sunday."
"Reviewed Unit 10 test that she earned a 44. Went through all the problems step by step. She has Geometry EOC next week so we went through mock EOC tests that I brought with me that I used in the classroom. She did really well."
"Today was my first session with the student. We covered the basics of the test, including format, pacing, and strategic guessing. Then we began working on math strategies, and topic review."
