Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student did not complete his assigned ACT sections for today's session due to midterms at school. We worked on the science section for a while before turning to his college application essays. We worked on his general personal statement, as well as began to develop and refine his supplemental essays."
"We began by the session by establishing his college list and plans thus far. The student is mostly applying to local schools. I helped him to compose descriptions of activities and explanation paragraphs using more academically advanced and resume-appropriate language. I then edited his essay while commenting out-loud before allowing him time to review my edits and incorporate his own voice into the essay. Next session, we will be focusing on scholarship applications."
"The student and I continued working on the supplemental essays for her college applications. In this meetings, I helped her edit an essay she had previously written to use for another application. We then went back to outlines we had written for the college essays and started filling these out to create full drafts. Finally, we set some deadlines for ourselves for the next several weeks."
"In this session, the student and I looked over the application form for college and reviewed the 2 essay questions. We edited and added to one of the essays that she began on her own time and discussed ways to improve upon her topic. We plan to work on these 2 essays for the next 3 meetings as the deadline for submission is approaching."
"I read a lot of the student's latest drafts on college essays and made recommendations on how they can be improved/edited. He has made significant improvements among all of them. He is close to finalizing those essays for submission."
"This session was spent reviewing the student's math homework on identifying common factors for different numbers. After he completed his math worksheet, we moved on to review his science homework. We took turns reading paragraphs and discussed the questions."
