Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student wanted help creating a dataset in SPSS and running descriptive statistics, tables, and charts. We also then practiced writing up the results using a report template provided by her instructor."
"This session, the student and I worked on setting up hypothesis testing using null and alternative hypothesis methods. We reviewed the hypothesis testing session of her final exam review. I will look for additional resources to assist her in what we learned today. She also will be reviewing sections in her text. Our next session is tomorrow morning."
"This was our last session, and we were able to get through everything. I will be watching one of the student's class videos to help her with the last question that is on her assignment. Hopefully, she is able to figure it out based on what I will email her."
"Today the student and I reviewed concepts regarding sampling distributions. We discussed the theoretical sides of sampling distributions and how to calculate the standard errors of different sampling distributions. We also covered the differences between population proportions and sample statistics. We talked about how we take samples to make inferences about population parameters, and how we can use the type of data (quantitative or categorical) to figure out if the parameter of interest is a proportion or a mean. We talked about using histograms to discover whether a specific variable has a normal distribution and also about the role that normal quantile plots can play in confirming normality. We worked on some homework questions, as well. The student and I plan to meet again tomorrow to go through the lecture content more thoroughly before her next quiz on Thursday."
"Today the student and I reviewed her writing homework. Her teacher wanted her to write a short story about an experience involving pathos, so we wrote about her grandfather. She did a great job with the story and also finished another writing assignment."
"Today the student and I went over a practice exam. We worked on ideas of independence and mutually exclusive, what conditions apply to independent probabilities and what that looks like in terms of the formulas on his given sheet. Overall a productive session, he has learned a lot!"
