Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today, I helped the student finish homework and an additional problem set containing problems related to implicit differentiation. We solved each one separately and compared our solutions thereafter. I helped the student make sense of calculating normal lines and tangent lines given a curve and a point on that curve; he knows his stuff and needs to write a little more neatly and carefully so that he does not make calculation errors. Next time, we will most likely cover related rates problems."
"Today, I helped the student work on chain rule derivatives. Then, we used the definition of chain rule to complete product rule and quotient rule problems involving the chain rule. The student needs to memorize these rules to prepare for his test tomorrow."
"Today, the student and I worked on derivatives. We went over how to find the tangent line to the graph of a function at a given x-value. We went over how to find the linear approximation of a function near a given x-value. We practiced doing the product rule, chain rule, and quotient rule. We also practiced computing second derivatives. We will meet again next Sunday."
"Today, the student went over 17 homework problems. Specifically, we solved problems using the definition of derivatives as well as derivation techniques towards resolving some of these problems. As always, he had a good attitude in these tutoring sessions, and I want to make sure that he is comfortable with the material before his next quiz and exam."
"Today, we discussed problems that were related to finding asymptotes of rational functions, derivatives to find critical points, curve sketching, and optimization. Student is very ahead of schedule."
"Today, we move on to the figures of tangent/cotangent and secant/cosecant functions. It took some time for her getting familiar with the graphs (shapes, range, asymptotes, and periods). She is able to tell the key properties of each type of functions and draw them afterwards."
