Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student did great work today! We worked on tonight's homework on solving inequalities, which she had a good handle on. We then finished additional problems she got in class for additional practice and reviewed scientific notation for her upcoming quiz on Friday. She seems well prepared and confident for the quiz, and she was very pleased with herself for accomplishing so many questions today!"
"The student did not have much material to review today. Although he had been out of school the past couple days, he said the class has only begun a new unit today, so he hasn't missed anything. He felt awkward about the pre-calc test on limits today. He feels that he understands limits, but the ones in the test he thought were more difficult to evaluate than any he's seen in his homework. His class just began a unit on polynomial functions and their behavior and properties, so I helped him review the homework he had on it. In addition, I made sure to do a few extra problems with him on graphing higher degree polynomial functions."
"The student did quite well and remembered the strategy I taught him for dividing fractions. He worked on a Thanksgiving Break project using a recipe and making it into different portions, such as doubling, quartering, halving, and for 20 people. He was able to get through almost all of the calculations. He did a really good job!"
"The student did really great work today, but he could still be more focused. If he wants to prepare more for the test, he can look at the example problems on the review sheet (the ones that the teacher completed in pen)."
"The student did really well in our first session. I tried to feel out where she was with the material (we worked primarily with order of operations and powers of exponents), and after a brief review of each concept she seemed to pick it up fairly quickly. There were a couple complicated problems I showed her how to do, but it seemed like she was getting a solid grasp of the basics. We will meet again on Friday to continue working forward on her math curriculum."
"The student did really well on the final by getting a 46/47! So, she's going to get an A+ for the semester. For this session, we got ahead by going over most of chapter 7 pertaining to vectors, their addition and subtraction, and calculating their magnitude. We did a couple of challenging problems, but we will still need to do more in order to completely be done with the chapter. She is getting the hang of it quite well!"
