Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I went over his homework assigned over his school break. We spent a lot of the time on a difficult translation. One point where he had confusion was that a list of names (e.g., Tom and Jerry) was 3rd person plural. We will continue to work on this concept."
"The student and I worked on building new vocabulary by working on conjugating new verbs. We also practiced adjective endings in the nominative case for definite and indefinite articles. We then worked on pronunciation and sentence building. We did several practice dialogues from the textbook, as well. We have now completed chapter one of the book."
"The student and I worked on Lektion 3 and talked about Ja/ Nein questions, w questions, the conjugation of the verb sprechen, possessive adjectives mein and dein, and I introduced the vocabulary about family and family members."
"This was our last session for now, and we went through the vocabulary of city life again, followed by 'authentic' German phrases. The student's pronunciation is getting better, and according to him, some of the vocabulary is sticking."
"Today I continued reading our story in German, "Papageno," to the students. I read to them passages out loud and then had them read them back to me. We focused on new vocabulary words and translating the passages from German to English. Our next session will be tomorrow."
"Today we covered more aspects of the dative case; specifically, personal pronoun irregularities that we see with the dative case. The students were very attentive and are doing well trying to master this more difficult concept."
