Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We worked on social studies. She had to answer questions about a section in her textbook. We read the questions, then the text, then filled out the answers. We also began to look at the study guide for her midterm. We went over the different sections she will be tested on. She will make flashcards and maps for us to practice and quiz her at the next section. She will also gather notes she has on these chapters."
"We covered subtracting, integers, reading, writing, and civics (judicial branch). The student is very confident and bright in all of his subjects. When he takes his time to finish his work, the end result is excellent."
"He worked on his science cell story book project. We reviewed the parts of the cell and how they could be compared to the parts of a dog. We also discussed the functions of each part. He then completed his social studies assignment and began his quiz review outline."
"We worked on character quotes for the book "Seed Folks." We discussed the debate presentation on Athens vs. Sparta."
"The student and I spent most of our afternoon working on math concepts, though we also spent some time reviewing his test on Greek history and preparing for a science test on the parts and functions of a cell. After working through his math homework for the night, he wanted to go over working with variables and order of operations. For the latter, we focused on why multiplication/division and addition/subtraction are of the same order. In the course of discussing this we also reviewed working with negative numbers."
"During this session, the student completed a reading comprehension packet for English, two different math worksheets, and annotated a text. The student continues to work on converting numbers from decimals to fractions to percentages. Overall he is doing great!"
