Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today we did review for the 2nd midterm. We reviewed lines and planes again as well as vector algebra. The student seems to understand this when we review it and we will work on retention for the test."
"We reviewed the geometric series, p-series, harmonic series and alternating series. We also reviewed tests like the integral test, nth term test, ratio test and direct comparison test."
"We went over simplifying equations that included square roots. Then in French, we went over vouloir, prendre, apprendre and comprendre. We also went over the genders of food."
"Today involved both kids. I started with the girl and material on geometric proofs regarding isosceles triangles, parallel lines, congruent triangles, and overlapping figures. She has come a long way from when we initially started. At this point, she is ready to take the exam. I also worked with the boy by beginning preparation for his next exam next Wednesday. We set out a plan where we went over the first half of the material on the exam regarding the Coulomb Law and electric fields. We reviewed about five different problems regarding electric force and charges and their vectorial addition. He has been doing very well in his last few exams, scoring about a 90 in both of them. As long as we prepare ahead of time for the exam, I see no reason why he won't continue this trend. I assigned him 2 questions from each section we reviewed for next Sunday."
"The student needed help making up her math work and had a series of lessons I reviewed with her. The concepts were dealing with geometric concepts of congruence, transformations, translations, reflections and rotations. We covered 4 different lessons with examples and practice problems. She had some questions about understanding transformations and needed additional instruction. I suggested she draw the shape and then move to help her visualize the rotations. I left her with some practice websites for her to review to help her. The student was focused and did a good job in the session and is determined to get her grade up."
"The student worked on clocks. We then corrected his assessment homework. He improved from the last test. I gave him the timed multiplication test. (0-9). The previous one from school he scored 75%. On this one he got 100%. He was so happy. He worked really hard. I'm so proud of him. I'll celebrate with him this week."
