Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"I reviewed more geometry proof problem solving with the student today. He also wanted to move slightly ahead into the next section of the chapter. I discussed with him where much of this study in geometry could be used in later math, and, more importantly, in the real world. We talked about how this may be used in construction, and even talked about how the tall skyscrapers in downtown Chicago actually need dynamic calculations to be done on their geometries, not only static ones."
"I went over times tables today with the first student. We went up to multiples of 8. I also worked with the second student on his fractions and helped him organize his school supplies/notebooks."
"Student 1 and I worked on dividing fractions. He is good at the actual math. We need practice turning word problems into math problems. Student 2 had a quiz on Friday and he hadn't gotten it back yet, so we went over the types of problems from his notes that he remembered being hard on the quiz. We also organized his notebook for Monday's notebook check."
"We worked on place values this session. The student understands the concepts but he makes mistakes out of complacency. With some more practice, he can master this section."
"We covered topics from the student's new unit: evaluating and simplifying exponents, radicals and fractional exponents."
"We reviewed for the student's upcoming quiz, going over how to convert linear equations to point-slope form and then find the intersection of two lines."
