"The student and I read and discussed chapter 8 of Animal Farm in preparation for an in-class discussion the next day."
"We worked on her rough draft essay for her scholarship application. I left her homework of looking up more information for the essay and reading it over again."
"For the first hour, I went over with the student the steps necessary to write a persuasive essay. I placed special attention on writing a clear and concise thesis statement. I also emphasized writing clear, concise, and relevant sub-thesis statements. We also worked on vocabulary and grammar. The second hour was dedicated to writing a short book report on "The Miracle Worker." A part of the report had to match the diorama that she had created from one of the scenes in the book. As a result of the above task, she worked on: improving vocabulary, correcting grammar, researching and recording relevant information and organizing/ writing a short report/recommendation."
"The student is very respectful and motivated. We created a "get-to-know you" poem, flashcards for words he can practice spelling and two sentences using his words. We began to read The BFG by Roald Dahl, taking turns reading. I recommended he practice his words each night and 20 minutes of reading would be very helpful also."
"The student is working on a response to an article in which he is to persuade the reader on his topic. He had a rough draft that was very useful, as it provided an abundance of statistical data and facts. We worked in Google Docs editing the paper together. He will work on his final copy of the assignment, focusing on the conclusion for our next session on Wednesday."
"The student is working on a short story mystery writing, Mystery in Manhattan. At this point, she is writing down all of her ideas. She worked on rewriting his essay, based on the prompt: does positive thinking lead to success? She needs to do one of the assessments for homework."
