Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today we did about half of a science exam. The student seems to be doing fine as far as timing goes but has not done a full timed test in a while so before next session he is going to do both a reading and science test and bring his answers so that we can go over them."
"Worked with Student A on science homework which covered distance, time, and speed formulas. Student A also learned how to use dimensional analysis to convert units into another form. Worked with Student B on sight words "we" and "go" and the letters "n" and "d" from his story book about animals."
"The student and I spent the vast majority of our time working on related rate problems. We did some implicit differentiation to start with but that worked its way into related rates which she has a quiz on next week sometime."
"Today, the student and I worked on the second math section, not timed. She was able to finish the math section in the 60 minute limit with 2 minutes left. She was also able to increase her overall math score from 28 to 29. We went over the answers she got wrong and saw that she made simple errors. I gave her homework of some reading selections and websites to check out."
"The student and I reviewed today for her test tomorrow over logs. We worked on evaluating logs, switching back and forth between log form and exponential form of equations, using the properties of logs to expand or condense log expressions, and graph logs and their transformations."
"Tonight the student and I spent a little bit of time on Logical Reasoning, a section that he's recently seen improvement in, before going on to Logic Games. Specifically, we worked in-and-out games (selection), using one from his most recent prep test, then with one from his review book, going over theory and best practices with this formal logic-heavy game type. He's going to keep working through his review book and take at least one more practice exam before we meet next."
