Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today was a better session. He stayed and worked on his geometry homework pretty effectively. He was working on using trigonometry to find apothegms and areas, and remembered some of it pretty effectively. I had to redirect him a few times, but overall it went pretty smoothly. He's using these sessions to focus on geometry now."
"Today's session went well. We discussed radicals and how they are used when dealing with polygons. Specifically, regarding 30-60-90 triangles and 45-45-90 triangles. Using the two theorems we discussed how to solve for 2 sides of the triangle, with only the knowledge of one side of the triangle. We worked on 2 worksheets that Emily has for homework."
"Test prep. We went over surface area and volume of regular solids (prisms, cones, pyramids, spheres). We practiced finding the surface area and volume of regular figures by themselves, and then of composite solids made of multiple regular solids. The student did an excellent job with most solids, and only had a little trouble with those solids that were hollow. Finally we went over similar solids and how to find their scale factor."
"We had to prepare and go over all of Chapter 12 material for the student's test next week, but she's doing great. She also did a stellar job on her Chapter 11 test and her average has gone way up!"
"The student started Ch 12 this week, so we covered 12.1-12.3. He has a quiz over this material tomorrow. At the beginning of the session, he found the material difficult. After going over each section, he seemed much more confident with his understanding of the material. At the end of the session, he was a little slow and nervous, but was understanding the questions and improving quickly."
"The student and I went over some tests results today and he made some corrections. The student is showing great motivation, understanding and willingness in the class and so much improvement. In terms of context we discussed tangents and similarities of triangles for the remainder of the session."
