Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Factoring trinomials, differences of two squares. Had a lot more homework than usual, went through his worksheets. Seems to get factoring pretty well."
"Student #1 and I reviewed simple and compound interest problems. He was confident with the formulas and concepts by the end of the session. We also will do some review for solving multi-step equations. Student #2 and I worked on the distance formula, writing linear equations in slope-intercept form, in addition to graphing functions on an xy-plane. Both students have a few more topics to study and I would then like to give them a final assessment."
"We reviewed Algebra and went over factoring, multiplying binomials, and solving systems of equations."
"We covered word problems and solving systems of equations. I showed the student a variety of strategies for solving the problems, and he was interested in learning the algebraic way that they haven't yet covered in class. I will be emailing practice problems of that type later this week."
"The student and I reviewed past lessons, specifically identity and inverse matrices, Cramer's Rule, and solving systems of 3 linear equations. Because he has a quiz tomorrow in math, we decided to focus on reviewing in preparation for the quiz. He had to review and look over examples in the book, his notes, and his past homework before he began to remember how to solve these matrix problems, particularly since these types of problems are very unique and not used commonly in other areas of math taught in school. However, he seemed to have no issues once we started to do practice problems from each section. Again, I advised that he focus on areas that he feels nervous and/or uncomfortable on rather than on parts that he is confident so that it increases the likelihood of him performing better on exams and quizzes."
"We reviewed some things from last session and went over fundamentals of geometry. The student's homework was to find anything he has questions on in the book so that we can go over it next session."
