Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I worked on numeric entry questions for the GRE, which require a different approach than other questions, as they are not multiple choice. We also reviewed algebraic and trigonometric concepts that he will need for this section of the test. He has continued to improve in terms of his critical thinking and math skills. I would like him to continue with practice problems and to continue to review all formulas, as well as any concepts we have covered."
"The student completed her homework and had a few geometry questions. She took a practice test and scored 149 verbal and 157 quant. That's an increase of 10 points on the quant. We reviewed some options to help improve her verbal score."
"The student had completed a new practice test of questions online, but lost those results in a computer problem. So, instead of reviewing those, we picked up with some questions from the big SAT book and from the official SAT guide. This allowed us to discuss a variety of math topics, including factoring exponents, the slope-intercept form of the line, the distance formula, and remainders. He's going to keep working in the official guide until we can meet again."
"The student has her GRE exam tomorrow, so she will spend the rest of the day resting, eating well, and getting a good night's sleep in preparation. We went over some basic concepts today, and talked about what to expect during the exam."
"The student has shown himself to be strong in most areas of GRE Q, with just a few less-than-optimal habits that would be worth breaking before the test. We will work on ridding him of these habits in the coming sessions."
"The student is a bright scholar who can do well on the exam by brushing up on the material and then practicing regularly. We are going to get comfortable with the material first and then start developing some test-taking strategies."
