Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I went through math and English work. She has made massive improvements in math, scoring a 710 in that section. Her English work was good too. She got every question that she had an idea how to solve correct. I want to keep filling in the gaps, but things seem to be looking good."
"This morning, we reviewed numbers up to 50, greetings, talking about ourselves, and body parts. We also reviewed things they prefer and like. They both are energetic, which is great for language learning. We used a lot of visuals and hand motions to connect materials. They did a great job of having a mini-conversation with each other."
"Today, we went over a test from a previous year. It went very smoothly! The student was able to make a lot of headway with both Lewis structures and more detailed orbital models. I think that a top score is definitely possible with one more week of solid work like today and yesterday."
"She is doing very well with her advanced vocabulary lessons with Latin and Greek roots. I am so glad that she has improved from last year. However, I would like to work with her with some more complex texts to improve her scores even more. This week I will try to identify some good texts for her to read and analyze to increase her reading scores. She is a very good student, and she is a delight to teach. Have a great week."
"The student and I had another wonderful session today. She did a fantastic job on her homework covering word problems. We started by correcting and reviewing her homework. From there, she took her timed quiz on 7th grade concepts. She still had some trouble remembering the order of operations, but we did some practice problems to drill on that concept. We also reviewed units and the prefixes: centi, kilo, and milli, etc. She is doing fantastic with pre-algebra and seems to have a very good handle on evaluating algebraic expressions. She has one page for homework on multiplying and dividing fractions."
"We reviewed malonic esters through amines. The student struggled with none of the material and had a great attitude. I included strategies for identifying product of aldol and Michael reactions. I left the student with practice exams to study for the final. He feels confident about the last test he just took, which I was glad to hear."
