Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today we went over the start of a new chapter. The student had his chapter 1 exam this Tuesday and felt really good about it. We covered frequency distributions and bar graphs as well as some review from the last chapter."
"Tutor and Student reviewed concepts that will be on the exam next week: finding quartiles, boxplots, coefficient of variation, z-scores, etc. Tutor and student used practice problems on the platform to expand understanding. Student will do practice problems in preparation for the exam and contact tutor with any other questions that arise. Next session will be determined by student need."
"We continued along with regression diagnostics as well as indicator variables. We left behind some work on confidence bands around estimates and predictions for our next meeting. Nonetheless, the student is progressing quite well."
"We continued to cover confidence intervals in this section. We discussed how intervals have to be even on both sides and we talked about measures of spread as they pertain to confidence intervals. We ran into some trouble with the way the student's professor had worded her quiz questions."
"We continued to work through the Probability unit. The problems involved using the general addition rule P(A or B) = P(A) + P(B) - P (A and B) and the idea of splitting an event A into ?A and B? and ?A and not B?: P(A) = P(A and B) + P(A and not B). She has some trouble interpreting the events in the context of the problems, so we will continue practicing this in future sessions."
"We covered basic concepts and notation for statistics: mean, variance, mean absolute deviation, standard deviation, geometric mean, outliers, population and sample, sigma (summation) notation. Student has a good attitude."
