Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student had to identify parts of the book, "The Maze Runner". We also reviewed his SS HW and I helped him study for the math quiz."
"The student was already more than halfway through her Math homework for the day by the time I arrived. We started by checking the student's planner while inquiring verbally about upcoming assignments and assessments. Coached the student through the remaining portion of current Math homework, teaching and clarifying as mistakes and oral statements revealed misunderstandings. Asked if she had followed up with her Social Studies teacher about previous notebook quizzes. Studied, reviewed together, and had the student write additional clarifying notes in her notebook in preparation for the SS notebook quiz tomorrow. Discussed the importance of writing enough detail that the student, at least, can understand and connect the important details hours and days later."
"The student and I worked on interpreting number lines and turning number sentences into mathematical expressions. We also learned methods for decoding and reviewed his math homework."
"The student is continuing to improve as he steadily develops strong study habits. He was able to work hard and focus today but did need a little push from me. He told me he received a perfect score for a Spanish oral exam we had prepared for the previous night. The student also told me that he learned of a new strategy to complete his Math homework from his advisor. He finished his Math assignment with ease and moved on to complete his English homework. We finished the session by going over some vocabulary words for a quiz. Overall I was happy with his effort today."
"The student is feeling very comfortable in his classes right now. We reviewed each class because it is time for midterms. In global connections, he scored a 100 on his midterm. He is currently working on a paper about a song and its relevance to current events. In his business class, his midterm is this Monday. He has some studying to do but is confident that he will do well on the midterm. In dance, he has had another writing assignment. His current grade is a B. He can attend a dance performance some time this semester to raise his grade. In his writing class, he is working on a project on fly fishing. The draft is due in 2 weeks. We will continue to meet once a week for an hour, but the day and time will float based on his need for tutoring."
"The student is very quick. He quickly picked up algebra and foundational use of number line, ratios, and logic. I'm looking forward to helping him advance amongst peers. He should read over and review lessons, often reinforcing skills learned."
