Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student completed worksheets on 4's and 11's. We also played a game where she kept score and practiced her addition and multiplication skills. She did great on cross-multiplying and carrying. I then set her math software to the Nines since this will be the next set of factors she learns. "
"We worked for a little while on a Literary Analysis project that the student has due in the coming weeks. Then we focused on more prep. She is getting much better at the English portion of the test, both in correct answers and in the speed it takes her to find them. The reading portion still needs work. If we do the questions verbally and she has plenty of time she'll get most of them right."
"The student and I met from 7:15-8:45. We went over three sections that involved finding areas of regular and irregular polygons. Several of the problems regarded finding areas of inscribed and circumscribed polygons. He had received an A on his previous quiz and has an A in the class, therefore we are working to keep his grade up."
"Reviewed two sections on division of fractions using reciprocal multiplication and various conceptual models. The student was very comfortable with the actual math and equation usage."
"Kirchhoff's rules were the subject of today's session. We spent a good deal of the time on algebra, but we also had time to talk about how to set up junction and loop rule problems, and the definition that the voltage is always dropped across a resistor in the direction of current. There were a lot of "moving parts" in these problems, but the student seemed to work through them quite well. We will review more tomorrow and try to cement the basic concepts."
"The student and I had a great session today. We covered the imperative mood and some more about -IR verbs. We also covered prepositions with geographical names. We discussed upcoming due dates and topics she would like us to cover during upcoming sessions. I'm going to review her strengths and weaknesses in French as evidenced by her performances on assessments and activities in sections 6A, 6B, and 7A in her textbook. I'll play upon her strengths and tutor her in her weaknesses in upcoming sessions."
