Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We went over the first 5 quizzes that the student had so far in this class. The topics included finding zeros of equations, asymptotes, long division of equations and f(g(x)) type of problems. Overall, many of the questions were addressed, but she wants some extra practice problems before the test on Tuesday, so I wrote a practice set for her to do."
"The student and I reviewed counting methods using combinations and permutations. She is not going into probability, so it was more of going through more difficult combination and permutations and the various traps they may use."
"We spent the session reviewing matrices, vectors, and related topics (like the basics of matrix operations, determinants, and analytic geometry). Overall, she seems to be doing well with the material. We spent some time focused on this issue, in particular stressing the point that row-reduction is just a compact version of solving systems of linear equations."
"We started preparing for her final. We went over ellipses and how to solve for the equation as well as graphing them. We then went over the unit circle and converting between radians and degrees. We went over a couple of "simplifying the expression" problems and I made sure she understood what to do with variables with negative exponents and followed the appropriate PEMDAS rules."
"The student and I met for the first time today and went over a few homework problems that she difficulty on regarding polynomials. Next, we worked on 4.4 which goes over rational roots theorem, synthetic division, finding irrational roots and using the graph to solve these types of problems. She understood how to do these types of problems a lot better after we went through practice problems."
"The student and I reviewed for her upcoming final exam, and she quickly remembered many of the concepts (conic sections and rational functions)."
