Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I studied chapter 3. We had to do a lot of back-tracking, but we made as much progress as we could. We studied polynomial functions, symmetry, and composite functions. We'll probably have to continue back-tracking next time before we'll be caught up with where the student is in her class right now."
"Today, the student and I went over his tutor assignments from last week. We reviewed his journal entries and discussed ways to improve his writing. We also went over his persuasive essay that was started two weeks. His revisions were intelligent and thorough. We finished the session by working on his journals that are due for school. We began by listing the positives and negatives of being in the 7th grade, and then we created an outline for the entry. We completed the journal entry and discussed next week's assignments."
"The student and I had another good SAT math session today. We did more problems and I encouraged her to rely less on a calculator and more on her innate problem-solving abilities. Next session I will have her take a practice section while focusing on (1) using her calculator less, and (2) not skipping problems."
"Today the student and I reviewed the material we had learned the week before. We worked through multiple problems testing his knowledge of linear functions, x- and y-intercepts, and slopes. He did very well."
"I was very happy to hear from the student that he is doing much better in his stats class - he got a B on his last test. We worked through two problem sets on confidence intervals, margins of error and sample sizes for sample proportions."
"We discussed the student's week at work and the music that we had emailed back and forth about from YouTube, looking for good examples of German-language contemporary music. He has been listening to it a lot and will continue to do so. We reviewed his workbook then discussed the article on satire and the origins of the word simplicissimus."
