Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I spent our session working on his understanding of the uses of the Pythagorean theorem, and applying them to certain problems he had to work on. He understood the ideas, and did well solving the actual problems."
"The student and I spent our session working through his most recent homework on line integrals. He told me he felt unsure about such problems, so we began by reviewing the steps needed to solve them, including parameterizing paths and fields and setting up integrals themselves. He then evaluated a vector line integral over a circular path using both analytical and graphical approaches. We concluded the session by setting up his remaining problems."
"The student and I spent our time reviewing previous topics. Report cards came home recently. After conferences, her mother will be able to relay in detail where improvements can be made. I believe that once the student decides to slow down during her analysis before solving a problem, her accuracy will improve tremendously."
"The student and I spent some time reviewing for his science exam, and we continued to work on his placement exam preparation. He's coming along well, and we had time to finish another spelling exam. So far, he has finished 40 questions out of the 100. Another thing that I recommended was taking a spelling test on just the words that really gave him trouble in a couple of weeks, to refresh his understanding."
"We went over two sample proportion confidence intervals for most of the lesson, which I think after our session, the student understands pretty well. We also reviewed linear regression analysis some and how to identify what type of hypothesis test to use on different problems. The student made a lot of progress and seems to grasp the material."
"We worked on problems from statistics. Specifically we looked at determining probabilities from the standard and general normal distributions. We also looked at the inverse problem of determining z and x values given probabilities. Finally we looked at central limit type problems concerning the sampling distribution of the mean. We are meeting again tomorrow morning to help the student get ready for her test Wednesday."
