Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I went over his notes on sections 4-1 and 4-3. They covered graphing and factoring quadratic equations. Overall, he seems to be understanding these sections very well. He is doing an excellent job with factoring as long as he watches for his minus signs. We did some tougher word problems at the end, and he said it all made sense to him."
"The student and I went over his past exam, current class work, and upcoming homework. The topics covered in geometry are as followed: - translation, rotation and reflection of points/figures on an x-y plot - creation of polygons using a compass. The student really puts in the effort to understanding the above concepts. In the long run, his hard work will pay off. One of the main areas, we will focus on is avoiding making sign errors during addition and subtraction operations. We will continue exploring alternative ways for checking his answers. I will also bring some materials to assist him in visualizing the translation, rotation, and reflection on a coordinate plane. Overall, awesome job this session, and I look forward to seeing his progression and mastery of the geometry."
"The student and I went over materials covering concepts and exercises of the Pythagorean theorem, circles (radius, diameter, circumference, area), solids, how to identify different types of solids, prisms, pyramids, and how to count faces and edges for polyhedrons."
"The student and I went over section 2.1 conjecture and inductive reasoning. We went over being able to recognize patterns in numbers and shapes. We also discussed how you can disprove a conjecture by finding one counterexample. We then jumped ahead and did some problems from the book that she will most likely have to do for her homework. She hasn't gotten her chapter 2 calendar yet, so we did pretty much the first half of the homework problems. "
"The student and I went over several topics from his algebra class that were causing some issues. We discussed systems of equations and composite functions. Additionally, we did more review on SAT Math section to keep our practice going and address any issues that come up."
"The student and I went over some of the topics she needed help with. We started with the function notation and continued to graphing parabolas. The second topic was a little bit harder for her to grasp so we will continue working with it next time."
