Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I prepped for her Geometry final using a review sheet that was distributed to her class. We went over the Pythagorean Theorem, alternating interior angles, similar right triangles, polygon properties, and how to use a compass to draw a bisector angle. I left her with points to memorize before her exam."
"He just took his test on transformations so we began looking at radians and trigonometry. He had a pretty short homework assignment about radians so he completed that. After that we started talking about how trigonometry works and why we use radians instead of degrees. I wasn't able to give the full picture yet but I think he understands the motivation behind radians. We also talked about sine, cosine, tangent and the reciprocal functions briefly without much detail since he will soon cover that in his course."
"The student and I reviewed material for his test the following day. Material included projectile motion and circular motion. The student asked great directed questions, which made for a very fruitful review session. We worked some of the more difficult problems dealing with position, velocity, and acceleration in vector form."
"The student had a laboratory assignment that he needed help finalizing. He had to label a lobster diagram and answer some questions. I helped him to understand what the questions were asking. I also helped him interpret the diagram and correctly label it."
"Yesterday's session was similar to Tuesday's in so far as it was a more structured review based on the student's notes. He completed the study activities I had recommended, and seemed to be in a relatively good place in terms of his content knowledge. Thus, I focused on identifying the areas where he remained weak. We spent a lot of time looking at the characteristics of viruses, as well as the differences between archaea, bacteria and eukaryotes. At the end of the session, I directed him to study the remainder of his notes and take a test I would send him the next day."
"We spent two hours on reading comprehension and will work on logic games again in two weeks. The student did really well with reading comprehension, but has to work on timing and reading for specific details."
