Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today we worked on arcs and chords. The student picked up the concepts quickly after I showed him examples on solving problems. We worked through problems and he had a solid understanding of the problems when we finished. I did not leave any extra practice, and no exams are encroaching."
"The student is confident and ready for this geometry test tomorrow. He continue to work on being sure to read questions carefully and underline what he's being asked to find so that he uses the correct formula. His comprehension of the material itself seems high."
"Today we prepared for the student's test. We reviewed everything that we discussed on Tuesday regarding the 30-60-90 theorem and the 45-45-90 theorem. We worked on a review packet given by her teacher. In addition, we went over her quiz that she took earlier this week."
"The student and I reviewed for his geometry test tomorrow, which will cover properties of circles, areas of solids, and surface areas of solids. The most difficult problems were those involving the areas of concentric rings within sectors of circles. We also started discussing the basic properties of sine, cosine, and tangent. The importance of memorizing the unit circle was emphasized, and we discussed some techniques to help commit things to memory. In general, we discussed study strategies for studying some formulas and equations that could be hard to remember."
"The student and I continued working on surface area and volume of solids, combined solids and solids missing shapes. We used the formula for surface area and volume of spheres, cylinders, cones, cubes, semi-spheres, and lateral area."
"The student had a test Monday, so we reviewed the more difficult problems from the final sections of the chapter and from the chapter review. Overall, he did well. He understood the concepts and most of the algebra needed to solve the problems. This chapter involved fewer proofs, so it was less difficult in general. He said he scored a B+ on his most recent quiz."
