Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student did very well today! She had a very challenging workfile, but made her way through it. She understands how to recognize subjunctives, and will be taking her quiz on them tonight. We will review for her final next week."
"We worked on multiplying, dividing, adding, and subtracting rational functions. Mostly, the student did well! The main strategy we worked on is to factor first."
"Since this was our first meeting, we spent some time with introductions. Then, we moved on to numbers. We spent the entirety of the session on the numbers 1-10. The student needed help with numbers 5-10. He was very engaged most of the time, and very friendly. He learned the numbers, and as long as he remained focused he was really good. I used Skittles to help teach him his numbers. He would count the Skittles up to ten."
"Answered student's lingering questions about various aspects of Japanese speech and conversational language. Conversed mainly in Japanese to help him retain vocabulary, switching to English only when he needed translations/clarifications on certain things."
"The student practiced writing his mother's name. We worked on learning the months of the year. He is slowly improving in those areas. We also read two different books and performed a reading comprehension activity on one of them. His reading and comprehension skills are getting better every session."
"We covered electrochemistry, as well as some chemical kinetics and organic chemistry. The student is struggling with applying chemical concepts to common question types found on the MCAT, relying instead on tricks and shortcuts to reach solutions. She has an extremely positive outlook, and I am confident that she will master Phys Chem in advance of her MCAT."
