Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We went over the student's homework which focused on remainder long division, geometry, and higher level multiplication. He has improved on his multiplication tables and long division skills. We will review his homework next session."
"Today, the student completed his first practice exam. Specifically, during today's tutoring lesson, the student completed the two math sections of the practice test: Quantitative Reasoning and Mathematics Achievement. On quantitative reasoning, he got 15 out of 29 questions correct (52%). For Mathematics achievement, he got 24 out of 42 questions correct (57%). During our next tutoring lesson, the student and I will review all the practice test (Math problems) that he got wrong. We concluded today's tutoring session with vocabulary development. We are continuing to use the "Vocabulary Cartoons" Book. Today, the student took a quiz. He got 8 out of the 10 vocabulary word definitions correct (80%). The student is a very attentive student. He is always focused on the task at hand. Thus our tutoring sessions are always very productive."
"Today we worked on a new set of math homework problems and concluded the session by taking a look at the speech and debate work that he has been working on."
"The student had already done her Language Arts homework before I arrived. We went over it, and then she did her math homework."
"I talked with the student about spreading out her assignments to better manage her time. Also, I want her to use the weekends to work on foundational skills such as her math facts and reading. I gave her a math card game that will certainly help with mental math. She seemed to really like the game when we tried it out! In this session, I helped her with her graphing homework. And I also taught her how to check her own work."
"The student and I went over fraction addition and subtraction including factoring, finding least common denominator, simplifying, and combining like fractions. She was very open to the subject and had a great attitude. She also seemed very happy when she mastered a concept and repeatedly said "It makes so much more sense now!" I left her and her mom with advice on writing down your thought process in a clear way so the student, her mom, and teachers can easily follow along and see the steps she takes to solve problems."
