Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Met with the student for the first time. She has not taken the test yet, so we worked through some math and science, looking for what we will need to focus on. Science came to her pretty easily; we went over some general tips for that section. For math, it looks like we will need to review some material that she hasn't worked on in a while."
"The student had completed a Writing diagnostic test for our session this week, so we concentrated on analyzing that information. We then went through several practice problems to relate the new information back to the ACT. The student is to review her writing notes and work through a critical reading section, to figure out her strengths and weaknesses."
"We did several timed ACT Reading passages. We are going to work on different tactics for how he can finish all of the passages in time and maintain accuracy."
"We spent more time working on timing drills and staying calm. The student's homework was fantastic, but her in class work caused us to continue looking in depth at the reading. We spent time trying to answer the questions without looking back and spending less than a minute per problem, and things picked back up."
"We spent most of the session practicing Physics problems for the Science section. The student performed very well on these. Afterwards, we worked on some English problems and reviewed the corresponding grammar and punctuation rules. Since the student will be taking the ACT this Saturday, we will use our next session for a final review of strategy, time management, and whatever content she needs to cover again."
"We spent most of this session on the student's weak spot: the reading section of the ACT. A lot of his homework after this session will be reading practice and understanding details around the scoring of the ACT that will help him while he is taking the test. We ended up covering all sections of the ACT, and he reported feeling more confident about the English section."
