Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I worked on correcting her social studies assignment. She had done well on the multiple-choice questions, but had missed all four of the extended written responses. We'll continue to work on that in our next session. We then spent the remainder of the time on studying for her math test. She understands the math concepts of multi-digit times single-digit multiplication well. She is well prepared for that test."
"The student and I worked on dividing fractions. She learned two ways to solve them, although the way that I showed her she liked better and was easier. She was also working on converting fractions to decimals."
"The student and I worked on division for about half of the session. She seemed confident with this and was doing the work accurately. We then switched over to multi-step word problems. We practiced underlining the important information and using that to figure out which step had to go first. The student did well with underlining the important information. She struggled more with finding out which operation was best to use. We will continue to work on this next session. She worked hard and did a great job today!"
"The student and I worked on double-digit multiplication and strategies to ensure numbers are being carried and recorded in the correct place value. By the end of the session, he was solving problems step-by-step, and he did well with appropriate carrying and place value."
"The student and I worked on fractions, adding and subtracting with unlike denominators. She has a good grasp of fractions. We reviewed her homework, and completed other subjects, as well. She has a chapter 3 test next week. I have been very pleased with the progress she has been making this year."
"The student and I worked on graphing and seeing patterns. We're practicing explaining how he gets answers when he does them in his head. When he gives me an answer by doing the work in his head, I ask him conceptual questions to make sure he fully understands the concept. He understood the concepts and how to do the problems for the lessons."
