Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"In today's session, the student and I went over physics. It was a continuation of electric forces. We finished capacitors last time, so this next section covered resistors. We went over Ohm's law and how to calculate ohms."
"Today, the student and I prepared for his upcoming exam on atomic structure/theory. We discussed isotopes and isotopic notation. We clarified some conceptual questions he had regarding numbers of protons, neutrons and electrons in the atom. We then moved on to review electron configurations and orbital diagrams for both neutral atoms and ions. He is truly doing great, and spoke very highly of his confidence in his ability do well on the exam."
"Duration is 45 min (from last session) + 75 minutes (today) We discussed the student's topic choice for her presentation and began to collect articles together. We made a very rough outline of her presentation and I will have her read the article so that she may summarize them for me."
"The student and I went over a previous homework assignment that he had trouble with. We went over strategies and methods for working through the assignment. We also went over study and organizational strategies."
"Worked math, passage reading, sentence completion, and sentence correction problems with the student. Assigned her the practice essay from the SAT I emailed to her as homework. She is doing very well on the math, and improving on vocabulary and grammar."
"We reviewed Mexico-related FRQ questions from previous years' AP exams. We then took a step back and reviewed comparative government themes and concepts (economic liberalization, dependency theory, cleavage, etc.). We focused the last 20-30 minutes on AP US Government exam prep, doing flashcard practice on the Constitution, and talking about how our government is framed in ways that might encourage gridlock."
