Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"This was our last session before the student takes the ACT test. We focused largely on Science. She is great at processing information so she gets a high percentage of questions correct. We also worked on some of the more complex math -- reviewing some trigonometry and the standard equation of a circle. I think she will do well on the test!"
"We completed all 3 sections of practice test 9. The student answered 52/54 questions correctly. She is doing an outstanding job. She is striving for a perfect score of 800 when she takes the test in March."
"The student and I had a good session. The student did a great job preparing for our math session. We reviewed counting problems and probability, and I assigned homework on these concepts, as well as on ratios/proportions and negatives. In critical reading, the student really struggles with sentence completions. We practiced covering the answers and supplying our own words to make the sentences logical. Then we compared our words to the answer choices. We also identified structural clues as to whether each sentence was a contrast, a support, a cause & effect scenario, or a definition. We will continue with sentence completion next week, and I have assigned homework on structural clues to give the student more practice. She will also expand her bank of vocabulary root words. Her improving vocabulary should help her with sentence completions, essay writing, and critical reading. The student is excelling at the critical reading passages. She can continue to improve by putting the central ideas into her own words. Finally, the student did a good job with essential grammar skills. We reviewed tricky examples of subject-verb disagreement."
