Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I worked on math and reading today. She is making progress but should be okay if she works hard between now and June. With math, she seems to be improving."
"The student and I continued our critical reading curriculum today. We examined several practice problems dealing with both tone and inference. The student is getting better at justifying her answers verbally. I asked the student to complete a writing diagnostic test for me for Sunday."
"Today, we focused on 5 specific geometry problems designed to review the basics before grading her math homework. Geometry problems are tough for her, but she's doing great elsewhere. We also reviewed a bit of trig. Finally, we reviewed our strategies for the science section, and they really seemed to click with her tonight!"
"The student and I reviewed numeric quantities, telling time, anatomy, and basic questions. In particular, the student should review the different uses of the number four while counting. While working on our recall and translation from English to Spanish, and vice versa, she has a tendency to look at her notes. I would encourage her to go with what's in her memory and leave the notes as an absolute last resort. For next session, I had her review counting whenever she's working on a task that permits her the spare mental capacity. I'm pleased with her ability to recall and remember numbers so far."
"Today we began working on Unit 3 while continuing to strengthen her skills from Units 1 and 2 since they are so integrated. Unit 3 has more grasping and thinking outside the box that does well if the basics are fully grasped."
"We went over her assignment and the kinematic equation. She seemed to have a good grasp of the material, and, after a little introductory work, was able to complete the entire assignment with very little assistance from me."
