Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today we focused on the English and math sections. We reviewed the most commonly tested grammar errors, and drilled math problems involving trig functions, even vs. odd functions, and angles in the plane."
"We reviewed for the student's quiz. The quiz covered identifying and solving linear equations, linear word problems, and complex numbers."
"The student and I spent the class nailing down which aspects of the verbal/writing section that the student has down cold and won't need review on. He is generally extremely strong. The only real areas of difficulty are discerning, on the hardest questions, between two almost equally fit answers. In addition, the student isn't fully conversant with the vocabulary of literary criticism. I'll be providing him with that vocab. We will be moving on to math next session and will only return briefly and sporadically to verbal/writing, since it seems very solid. I am providing the student with some homework to finalize the learnings we achieved."
"The student completed new homework problems regarding Charles' Law and Boyle's Law. He only needed a small amount of instruction on these problems. He was able to figure out how to set them up and complete the math. He is using his iPhone for a calculator, and I was able to identify functions for inserting scientific notation."
"Practicing midterm problems was covered and their key ideas were mentioned. I would suggest her to familiarize herself with those theorems and practice similar problems. In the test, she will know how to integrate those theorems from her cheat sheet to perform effectively."
"The student worked hard today. There is a lot of math he needs to become stronger in. Some of the math on the SAT, he has not yet been introduced to yet in school, so I will try catching him up before beginning new topics."
