Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I discussed three different methods for solving quadratic equations. She had difficulty in deciding which method to use, so we went through how to do all of them. By the end of the session, she was able to choose which method to use based on the form of the equation, and after practicing on several problems, her confidence in using each of the methods also improved."
"The student and I reviewed and finished concept notes on trigonometry identities and functions. I included a quick review of the unit circle, and of trig function relationships. From there, she worked on homework problems corresponding to the notes."
"The student and I reviewed chapter 6 for her test on Tuesday. She understands the material well. The study guides her teacher and I provided should be enough practice for her to pick up her speed. Finals are coming up, so we will do a semester review for next session."
"The student and I reviewed for her exam tomorrow. We reworked on graphing trig functions and developed a few steps to know what transformations to do first. We also looked through her quiz and went through the exams. She said on the quiz she didn't know how to handle a tangent function, so we went through it. She knows most of the material."
"The student and I reviewed for his final exam in precalculus. We covered problems dealing with simplifying logarithms/ exponential expressions, solving logarithmic and exponential equations, and graphing conic sections such as parabolas, hyperbolas, and ellipses."
"The student and I reviewed for his midterm by doing problems from each section covered on the test. For our next meeting, I asked him to have completed the same process for every section and to be prepared with questions on what he covered. I also asked him to review his old tests to see what he got wrong so that we can focus on those."
