Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I went over finding critical points, points of inflection, and determining local max and min. She felt good about all of the new material. We just had to go over finding first and second derivatives again. She will message me with any questions that she has while completing the rest of her homework."
"The student and I went over the quotient rule, and combined that with chain rule problems. She needed help with certain problems. She had an exam coming up, so I will send her more problems and she will let me know which problems she struggled with, and we will set up a session and go over them."
"The student and I went through some problems about local max and min. Then we discussed optimization. He showed that he understood the concepts well, but still needed help with some concepts of pre-algebra. I gave him extra problems for this concept, and we will work more on this in our next lesson."
"The student and I went through the exam review for integrals. We practiced using u-substitution and antiderivatives to evaluate definite and indefinite integrals. We reviewed the integrals for exponential functions and 1/x. We also practiced using integrals to find the area between a function and the x-axis by finding the zeros of the function, and adding the absolute value of the integrals using the zero points to break up the limits of integration for the interval we want to find."
"The student and I went through the remainder of his quizzes and tests and reviewed testing strategies for math. I hope he will practice his three or four most difficult types of problems on his own, and I think that for all the smaller mistakes he is prone to making, what is not covered by better testing technique will improve from our review. He certainly doesn't have a 100% grasp of every little thing--we've gone through an entire semester of math in a couple weeks--but he has the tools to succeed on those problems he had the most difficulty with. He also has a smattering of techniques, tools, and reminders to improve bit by bit on most other areas."
"The student and I worked on basic techniques of integration, including power rule and u-substitution. She and I also used the fundamental theorem of calculus applied to initial value problems as well as word problems for her homework due on Friday."
