Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We went over polynomial functions both for factoring and synthetic division techniques. I gave the student one assignment to complete on his own; I will correct it next week to assess his progress."
"We completed preparations for the upcoming PSAT, and began moving to gear up towards beginning work on the SAT. We reviewed Pre-Calculus and Biology."
"Covered Sect. 2.3: Product and Quotient Rule; Sect. 2.4: Chain Rule; Did test review questions #1 - #18 (from Sect. 2.3 - 2.4)."
"This session was a review of inequality solving, graphing inequality, and the related solution sets. We also covered domain and range of a function, factoring, exponential functions, finding the inverse of a given function, infinite limit of a function regarded as the end behavior, even and odd functions, intercepts of a function, and asymptotic behavior of a function."
"The student and I worked on the chapter covering law of cosines. She quickly discovered that the equations themselves are actually rather simple. I showed her how the equation is related to the quadratic formula then we worked on some of the harder word problems which she struggled a little with but was able to understand fully after some explanation. A few of the questions asked about the relationship between the law of sines and the law of cosines. Since she was getting rather confused about when to use which relationship, I drew up a flowchart for her that visually illustrated when to use each one, which she appreciated. Overall, was a very productive meeting."
"We continued our chemistry unit by now approaching covalent bonding. In this way, no ions are formed. Electrons are 'shared' between two atoms of specific elements in order to satisfy their octet. Understanding of the Octet Rule, Pauli Exclusion Principle, and Hund's Rule are key. We also looked at molecular geometries."
