Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I covered describing trig graphs with equations and trig equations with graphs. She seemed to struggle with using certain tools to get to her answer. Her attitude is getting a lot better. She seems more accepting of the material. I gave her a few equations to utilize that will help her by leaps and bounds. "
"The student and I covered end behavior of polynomials and graphing polynomials. We also covered simplifying complex expressions and writing polynomials in factored form. Since we have begun tutoring a couple weeks ago, she is now ahead in class and had her homework for the week finished before we met. She is making great progress in her organization and comprehension of the topics."
"The student and I covered L'Hopital's rule, derivatives, and graphing derivatives. The student had a little trouble coming back into the chain rule, but as is usually the case, she overcame that struggle swiftly and completely. I do not have any major concerns from our session."
"The student and I covered permutations and combinations. The only problem she had was with leaving a factorial in the denominator on a permutation problem, although the calculation was correct. She already has a solid understanding of the concepts. She was open to looking at the problem from different perspectives. I included one strategy which was to use the combination tree when in doubt. I included a few practice problems beyond the homework for practice. No scores yet to observe."
"The student and I covered the combination of functions, including adding functions, subtracting functions, and multiplying and dividing functions. We also looked at the resulting functions domains. In addition, we covered composition of functions, including their domains. Finally, we looked at end behavior of functions, in addition to finding the roots of functions. The student seems to be doing very well understanding these concepts."
"The student and I covered the unit circle, arc length, linear speed, and angular speed. She was confused at first about the material but motivated to learn what she was missing. By the end of the session, she had much more confidence in the material. We went over strategies of how to solve specific types of problems and how to find cosine/sine of angles in case she forgets what she has been working on memorizing. We found a website that had a lot of practice that was similar to the problems in her textbook. I don't have any concerns from this session."
