Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Covered Chapter 9: Extending Transformational Geometry; Sect. 9.1: Reflections; Sect. 9.2: Translations; Sect. 9.3: Rotations; Reviewed homework for Sect. 9.3: # 12 - 30 even, skip 18, 20, 26."
"During this session we went over proofs of parallelograms, rhombi, rectangles, squares and trapezoidal on graphs using distance formula, slope formula, and midpoint formula. Overall this session went well. We also looked at some past material with angles and triangles."
"The student and I went over how to find the tangent and co-tangent in right triangles. I also went over SOHCAHTOA with him which outlines the definitions of sine, cosine, and tangents."
"We covered geometry-circles, tangents, chords, inscribed angles, and proofs. We prepared for the student's test. The student did well overall. I assigned her some theorems to memorize."
"We reviewed slopes, midpoint lines, diagonals, and y intercept form used in proofs for the student's test on Wednesday."
"In this session, we covered a variety of problems from several worksheets. These were problems that the student was redoing. The problems that seemed to give the student most difficulty were those involving the ratios of the sides of triangles and bearing problems. An easy way to go about problems of sides of triangles using proportions is to become familiar with the formulas like the leg rule and the geometric mean of an altitude. I shared these with the student. As for bearing problems, drawing a sketch is key and to do so well one must understand the problem. Thus, I plan to keep on working with her to facilitate her ability to sketch these problems, for this practicing more problems may be best."
