How can a Biology tutor help you?

Biology is the study of the natural world and all of the living things in it, from the biggest mammals, all the way down to the microscopic DNA of humans. The subject attempts to explain how organisms and animals work, including humans. Biology is a comprehensive subject that consists of many complex concepts, so some students find it difficult to obtain a firm grasp of its intricacies. If your child is struggling in their biology course, he or she will greatly benefit from working with a private biology tutor. Let Varsity Tutors connect you with a professional tutor who could create customized study sessions designed to meet your child's specific goals. We will find you a private biology tutor in Warwick, RI, who will tailor the sessions to focus only on what your child needs to cover.

Your tutor will meet with your child one-on-one to discuss their goals and concerns. After determining your student's strengths and weaknesses, your tutor will create a targeted lesson plan geared toward getting your child on the right track to success. Tutoring sessions can be conducted at the location of your choice, including at your own home. If your child is not able to meet with their tutor in person, online sessions are available through our face-to-face online learning platform. Students receive the same benefits from online tutoring sessions as they would from in person tutoring sessions.

We reviewed material for her upcoming test. The student's test is next week, so we also plan on meeting one more time before the test. We spent a lot of time comparing and contrasting cell respiration and photosynthesis, and using those comparisons to understand the role of common components in each process. She's doing really well, it is evident that she works very hard between our sessions.

We continued our review. Digestion was a challenge for the student the first time around, and it seems to continue to be so. There are many enzymes for each of the types of nutrients, and he has difficulty keeping them straight. To help, we created a comparison chart outlining the different names he might see for each of the nutrients (i.e. - fats are lipids, fatty acids), the enzymes that digest them and where it happens, and how they are absorbed into the body. This seemed to clarify some of the relationships. Secondly, we drew a flowchart to show where the food actually goes and what "helper organs" are involved, but do not directly touch the food. This helped him see that the pancreas and gallbladder, while useful, are never directly visited by the bolus. We finished up by talking about the liver and its functions.
