Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"I helped the student study for a science test and he finished writing and editing an English paper about The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe."
"The student didn't have too much homework yesterday, so we spent most of our time together reviewing some basic geometry concepts that he wanted to work on. We worked on finding areas, surface areas, and volumes of various parallelograms and rectangular prisms. He hasn't worked much yet with triangles or trapezoids, but I had him learn how to find these areas, too. We ended with some memorization work that he had to do."
"We finished the first draft of the student's essay on ancient Egypt. We really focused on timed writing, getting all her ideas onto the paper and not over thinking them too much at this stage. This could help get over writer's block. We also worked from the 7th grade math book on inequalities and inequality word problems."
"The student and I had an excellent session. He was very attentive today and was able to quickly finish all of his assignments. It was a relatively short session. He only had Math homework and a short reading assignment for World Cultures. Overall, it was another positive learning session."
"The student and I mostly focused on his Social Studies, preparing for a quiz on the economies, cultures, religions, and climates of the different British colonies in North America. I noticed that he was more reserved than usual at first, but once he began working, he became more forthcoming and worked very hard."
"The student and I organized his folders for all of his subjects. I have suggested that he get an accordion file folder to keep all of the handouts, graded quizzes and tests, etc. He also needs an assignment/ appointment book for capturing his school deadlines. We also talked about his note taking and how best to organize it. We will be following up on all of these tips during our sessions."
