Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We began chapters 24, 25, and 26 as well as 27. We finished the study questions together and went over what we had covered before on what might have caused mass extinctions and what evidences we have to support current theories."
"Today we reviewed genetics for biology, as well as Spanish. I showed the student different ways to approach homework and studying. I also explained/showed her the importance of active reading, especially while reading biology. We read a chapter of genetics together and I showed her how to analyze and think of why each topic is relevant. For Spanish, we worked on grammar and vocab. I showed her how to review her vocab words and the importance of making flashcards. In addition, we discussed potential distractions she encounters while studying, and what to do to avoid/minimize distractions."
"We reviewed aromaticity and Huckel's rule. We reviewed how to handle heteroatoms in aromatic rings. We discussed naming aromatic compounds and when to name a compound as a substituted benzene versus having the benzene ring as a substituent. We went over a few of spectroscopic features of aromatic rings. I will send a few practice spectroscopy problems, and two web sites that have spectroscopy information and an IR frequencies table."
