Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We reviewed the current material in the student's PHY301 class today, which is calculus-based physics. The current homework covers concepts such as conservation of energy, free body diagrams, inclined planes, and some kinematics. We went through problems in a very straightforward way, explaining concepts or using visuals when beneficial. Some of the calculus or linear algebra based problems caused some trouble, as did certain physics concepts, but overall he has a good understanding of how to work through the class's problems. He will continue working on the assignment in preparation for an exam next week."
"We spent the entirety of the session reviewing notes for an upcoming exam. Topics included standing waves, the superposition principle, nodes and antinodes, resonance, and sound waves. The first time through her notes we spent more time and covered the topics in more detail. The second time through the notes was mostly the student putting the concepts in her own words. Overall we had a great session and she is confident about her exam. I recommend focusing on understanding resonance and the superposition of waves. I suggested she watch a couple videos with real life examples as they may be helpful."
"Today's session was spent working on the student's problem set. The topics of the problem set revolved mostly around concepts involving magnetism. The questions required mastery of the "right hand" rule for magnetic fields and moving charges."
