Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"This was our first session, and it went well. The student only had a few quick questions about rational equations that solve to form the equation for a parabola and that solve to form the equation for a line. We went through a few of the problems on his homework and made sure to get his questions answered. He had all of his questions answered, and it was a quick first session."
"This was the first session with the student. During today's session, multiplication and adding/subtraction under 1000 was reviewed. The session started with a One Minute Rocket Drill for basic multiplication facts. The rest of the session was completed by using an online resource in order to gauge the student's math skills. She struggled most with borrowing and carrying (addition and subtraction). We will review and drill with multiplication, as well as carrying and borrowing."
"This was the initial session with student. I helped her with some homework and reviewed concepts from some recent work. We identified and began to address an area of difficulty: the concept of subtraction and number sense."
"This was the student's first session with me. After a quick overview of his math struggles, we worked together on strategies to master fractions and decimals. I assigned him a couple of things, and then talked to his mom and modified the homework to include reading and writing as well."
"This week and last, the student and I had a chance to talk about parabolas and factoring. He's feeling pretty confident with a lot of this material (it's mostly review), and so we've been discussing ways to avoid common errors and trying to make connections to other math topics. I'm really happy with where he's at this point in the semester. Thanks a bunch!"
"This week I met with the student's teacher from school to discuss a learning plan. At today's session, we continued practicing factors, and began learning about how to categorize numbers as prime or composite based on their factoring. He was diligent throughout."
